ABOUT ATHLETIC REHABILITATION

Gary Shiffman, PT, ATC, CSCS 

Physical Therapy
Gary has more than 25 years of physical therapy experience. He received his physical therapy degree from Columbia University in NYC in 1980, and worked on staff at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, (now New York-Presbyterian) , Eastside Sportsmedicine Center in Manhattan,  in home care  for St. Vincent’s Hospital, Holy Name and Hackensack University Medical Center.
From 1990-2004, he ran his own practice in Teaneck, New Jersey and joined Millennium Physical Therapy in February of 2005.

Athletic Training
 Gary obtained his National Athletic Training Association Certification in 1988 after interning with Bill Chisholm, ATC, of Brooklyn College, one of the early pioneers in the field of Athletic Training. Gary has served as Head Athletic Trainer for several high schools in Northern N.J., most recently at St. Joseph’s Regional H.S. in Montvale, whom he accompanied to State Championships in football and baseball.  He remains a Sports Medicine Consultant for St. Joe’s.

Strength  & Conditioning
Gary received his credentials as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 1991.  He has designed and implemented conditioning programs for male and female athletes (7-20) in a variety of sports.  The principles of conditioning - ie. gradual increased workload, monitoring exercise intensity and volume are integral to Gary’s approach to physical therapy.
